Several speakers from District 5 urged the board to reconsider how senior centers are funded across Sedgwick County. Andre Cisco, who identified himself as living in the Oakland Improvement District, said his center received $57,000 last year and asked for fair, stable support: "Our budget is done, and it has been submitted...we kept allocating the 57,000 that we received last year," Cisco said.
A commissioner said prior proposals to change the funding formula did not move forward; using the old performance-based formula as a guide, staff estimated roughly a $35,000 enhancement that would adjust a few centers upward while generally holding others harmless. Commissioners said they will revisit formulas and discuss options in upcoming budget meetings.
