The Traill County Economic Development Commission heard an update from Executive Director Jim Murphy on ongoing housing and commercial-property activity at its Feb. 17 meeting. Murphy said the county’s housing study is getting closer to completion and that consultant Burian & Associates will attend a future meeting to deliver the results.
Murphy reported work on housing projects in both Mayville and Hillsboro and said TCEDC has been talking to local builders about incentives for multi-family housing ranging from twin homes to rental apartments. He also reported continued negotiations related to the potential sale of the Goose River Brewing building in Hillsboro and meetings about the possible purchase of the Subway building there. Murphy framed these efforts as part of broader efforts to expand workforce and housing options locally.
