Council adopts resolution moving March meeting to March 31, 2026

By unanimous vote the Council adopted Resolution #8, 2026 to change the date of the March regular Council meeting to March 31, 2026 and then concluded the special-called meeting after brief council comments.
Mayor Caynor Smith, Jr. informed the Council that a scheduling conflict required the March regular meeting to be moved. Robin Dotson moved to adopt "A RESOLUTION OF THE TOWN COUNCIL OF THE TOWN OF WISE, VIRGINIA CHANGING THE DATE OF THE MARCH 2026 TOWN COUNCIL MEETING" and Laura Taylor seconded. The motion passed 5-0.
After the resolution vote, Councilmembers offered brief remarks. Laura Taylor thanked participants in recent committee meetings preparing the FY 2026-2027 budget and Councilman S. Duane Phillips thanked staff for the hours invested in preparing the new fiscal year budget. Mayor Smith reviewed upcoming town events and encouraged attendance. Laura Taylor moved to adjourn, Robin Dotson seconded and the motion passed unanimously.
