DPW Supervisor Tony Parcher told the board that misuse of the Kaliseum showers—specifically dog bathing—was causing drainage problems in newly installed showers and that DPW is increasing oversight and working with contractor Spence Brothers to resolve defects. Parks and Recreation Director Chad Williams said the Kaliseum is the community’s "most popular and crucial building," reported cracking in a new multipurpose room, and noted concession revenues are down.
Williams asked the board to authorize full-time county employees to receive a free Kaliseum gym membership, citing potential health care premium savings of roughly 6–8 percent; members of the board expressed concern about an unknown revenue impact to the facility and taxpayers, and the motion to provide memberships was withdrawn.
