Megan Daniels of the Kalkaska Horse Project presented the organization's 2024 annual financial report, an annual renewal agreement and a proposed fee schedule, and described planned work at Rocking Horse Arena including arena base work, west barn renovation and interior demolition phases. She told the committee a portable‑stall quote was $38,000.00 and expressed appreciation for continued use of county grounds.
By consensus the board authorized Chair Kohn Fisher to sign the Annual Renewal Agreement with the Kalkaska Horse Project for 2025, approved the proposed rental rates and accepted the 2024 Annual Financial Report. The motions were moved or supported by Commissioner Truman Bicum and Commissioner Scott Matley, with Commissioner James Sweet supporting the financial report approval; minutes record no opposition. The board also discussed progress with the new FAIR board in the context of ongoing site needs.
The approvals follow the project's request to continue use of county grounds while phasing interior demo, cement work and portable stalls. Staff will carry the agreement paperwork forward to the Regular Board meeting for formal signature and file retention.
