At its Nov. 20 meeting, the Kalkaska County Board of Commissioners approved several budget amendments (2024‑0055 through 0062) and large post‑approved bills, and gave the county administrator authority to make year-end payments and budget amendments to prevent overages.
The meeting minutes list "Amended Post Approved Bills of $3,161,860.00; General Fund Bills of $240,091.63; Payroll #21 of $203,644.59; Special Payroll of $1,098.00; Payroll #22 of $204,761.16; Commissioners Per‑Diem ($1,275.00) and Salary ($3,340.00) of $4,615.00." Commissioner Jeff Sieting moved for approval; the motion passed on a unanimous roll-call vote.
The board also authorized the County Administrator to make necessary budget amendments through the end of 2024 and to transfer any 2024 excess fund balance, if present, to be earmarked for the county's MERS retirement account. These steps were presented as actions to mitigate potential budget overages and manage retiree funding obligations.
Officials did not identify any items for rejection, and no additional discussion or public objections were recorded in the minutes.
