Kalkaska commissioners shift $1.62 million toward Kaliseum renovation

"Motion by Sieting to move unassigned funds of $1,000,000.00 from Budget Stabilization fund 257 transferring to the Kaliseum Fund 585 to pay for renovation costs," the motion recorded in the minutes stated. The board also approved moving an estimated $620,000 from County Wide Improvement Fund 445 to Fund 585 to cover additional renovation costs.
County administrators discussed that the transfers follow motions made in December 2023 concerning Kaliseum work. The board authorized the administrator to execute the transfers immediately so renovation budgeting and vendor work could proceed in 2024–25. No dissenting votes were recorded.
Next steps noted in the meeting minutes include accounting entries to move the funds and applying any applicable grant or donation offsets as projects are contracted. The Kaliseum Director’s previously authorized staffing and program changes (such as a part-time cleaner charged to grant funding) were discussed separately under personnel resolutions.
