County awards $3.43 million in contracts for 2026 countywide paving program

The Board approved awards for the 2026 Countywide Paving Program during its July 28 meeting. Rieth‑Riley Construction Co. was awarded Item II—work in the Foxwood and Meadow Woods subdivisions and Laurelwood Drive—for a base contract of $1,126,947.70 and a 10% contingency, for a total not to exceed $1,239,642.47. Michigan Paving and Materials Company was awarded Items I and III (Bellevue Road and multiple other county road segments) for a base amount of $1,988,435 with a 10% contingency, for a total not to exceed $2,187,278.50.
The Road Department confirmed funds are available in the 2026 Road Department budget for these projects. The contracts include typical scope items: hot mix asphalt overlays, leveling courses, drainage improvements, ADA sidewalk upgrades, underdrain installation, monument box adjustments, and other related work. The Board authorized the Road Department to administer contracts and approve payments upon satisfactory completion of work.
Both awards were approved as part of the consent agenda and carry standard contract administration provisions, including contingency authority for unforeseen work and Chairperson signature following County Attorney approval.
