Chief recommends no burn-permit fee after commission review of permit volumes

Chief Myers said the Town issued 17 permits to North Bennington residents over the past several months and that the time and effort to collect and process a small fee would be unnecessary. No motion was brought forward to create a burn-permit fee.
Commissioners said some neighboring municipalities charge nominal fees while others do not; the commission did not adopt a uniform fee policy during the July 22 meeting and instead agreed with the chief’s practical recommendation. Mr. Damon will continue cross-checking other application fees against the commission's draft list for future consideration.
