Health Department extends interim finance support and waives hiring delay for communications role

The Ingham County Board approved several measures to stabilize Health Department operations. Resolution #26-297 waived the four-week waiting period to post and fill the vacant Health Communications Specialist position after the incumbent resigned on May 27, 2026; the Medical Health Officer recommended the waiver given the role’s public-facing and crisis communications responsibilities.
The Board also extended Jehmz Consulting, LLC accounting support through Sept. 30, 2026 at a not-to-exceed amount of $25,000 (at $65/hour) to help with payroll and accounting gaps. Separately, the Board amended a prior authorization to increase interim CFO services from ProNexus, LLC by $160,000, for a total not-to-exceed amount of $450,000 through Sept. 30, 2026, to maintain financial leadership during the recruitment for a permanent CFO. The Controller and Medical Health Officer will manage contract oversight and recruitment timing.
