Council adopts right-of-way access amendments, revises driveway-width rules

Public Works Director Adam Adlich presented Bill No. 07-02-2026, an amendment to Chapter 20 to ensure redevelopment triggers in the Maguire overlay also trigger right-of-way access management review. Adlich said the change was intended to synchronize standards between Chapters 20 and 27 and to address multiple or open-access driveways along Maguire.
Adlich described the specific driveway-spacing changes: "The proposed ordinance also amends driveway spacing minimum width to 12' residential, 30' commercial and 30' industrial and maximum width from 30' to 24' (36' for three car garage) for consistency between Chapters 20 and 27 of the city's code." Council discussed public notice options and then passed the bill to second reading, read it a second time and adopted it as Ordinance No. 6035.
