The Charles City County Economic Development Authority reconsidered and approved an application from Eli Dancy (doing business as Simply Cycle / Cool Hill Ventures) to lease the unit adjacent to his current Market 5 space. Travis Johnston moved to approve the application; Adriane Hicks seconded the motion and Chairman Arnold Brown called the ayes.
Cynthia Boone noted the item included both the lease agreement and the executed documents for the FY26 Business Growth Grant that the board had previously approved. Boone invited Mr. Dancy to receive the ceremonial check and to allow a photo for the local newspaper. Chair Brown and staff will provide Mr. Dancy with the executed paperwork.
Travis Johnston asked whether the lease was the standard agreement used for other tenants; Boone confirmed it is the standard lease form. The outgoing check for the Simply Cycle grant was discussed in the financial report and corrected to $4,800 with $10 in service fees.
Next steps: Boone will provide the executed documentation to Mr. Dancy and staff will proceed under the standard lease terms.
