Dustin Henry of Development Services gave a brief update on recent City Council activity and upcoming items relevant to Planning & Zoning.
Henry said the June 25 Council meeting approved a rezoning, transportation criteria updates and mobile food establishment amendments, and that the July 9 meeting included rezoning and a first reading for a Whitestone rezoning. He said several items that had been scheduled for June 25 were later denied by Council, and he previewed upcoming Council dates: July 23 (second reading at 3101 East West Elm Boulevard) and Aug. 13 (first reading and public hearing for items from this evening’s agenda, including the event center). Henry asked for volunteers to attend Council meetings; two commissioners volunteered to attend the July 23 and Aug. 13 meetings.
Henry also asked commissioners to save Oct. 14–16 for the state chapter conference of the American Planning Association in Irving and said he would circulate conference information to the commission.
