Cedar Park OKs $1.25M Bridal Boulevard feasibility study

The Cedar Park Type B board approved a not-to-exceed $1,250,000 feasibility study for the Bridal Boulevard corridor.
Vice President (presiding for the agenda item) called up D1.a.1 and described the proposal as a corridor study. Randy Leer, director of engineering capital projects, told the board the study would assess the full section of Bridal Boulevard from the north to south city limits for opportunities to make the roadway act more like a city boulevard rather than a state highway, including added medians, landscaping, sidewalks and shared-use paths. "It's a study to do a feasibility for the entire section of Bridal Boulevard...what could we do to make that section look, feel, and act more like a city boulevard street as opposed to a state highway," Leer said.
Board members pressed for specific considerations—access to businesses on both sides of the corridor, crosswalk and sidewalk safety near the library and farmers market areas, and federal funding eligibility and phasing options. Leer clarified the study will examine phasing and funding opportunities but will not be an actual design contract; design would follow if feasibility warrants. The motion to pass D1.a.1 was made, seconded and approved by the board.
