Council approves SAK Construction contract for sanitary sewer main lining

The council authorized the city manager and city clerk to execute a contractor services agreement with SAK Construction LLC for the city's 2026 sanitary sewer main lining project.
Jason McCarty explained staff used a cooperative purchasing agreement and had obtained a second vendor price that was higher than SAK's, allowing the city to proceed without a full formal bid. "Cooperative purchasing is already competitively solicited and you're able to take advantage of that," a staff member said, noting the approach can expedite work and sometimes yield better pricing.
Council voted to move the ordinance to second reading by title and then adopted it. Staff said maps showing where work would be done were included in the packet and promised to share scheduling details once available.
