Holmen honors 'Friends of Education' volunteers across district

The Holmen School District honored volunteer 'Friends of Education' from each building — including Dave (Holmen High), Amber Heim (Homa Middle), Jennifer Spindler (Evergreen), Beth Allen (Sand Lake), Deputy Cody Bernhardt (Prairie View), and Janet Kennedy (Viking) — recognizing sustained volunteer time and program support.
The board paused regular business to recognize this year’s Friends of Education from across the district. Holmen High principal Wayne Sackett said of his honoree, "Dave is a familiar face throughout the Holmen community, can regularly be found supporting students at countless Holmen High School events and activities," citing longtime booster-club leadership, event announcing and behind-the-scenes support.
Other principals presented honorees from Homa Middle, Evergreen Elementary, Sand Lake, Prairie View and Viking elementary; Dr. Nick Weber read student comments about Deputy Cody Bernhardt — "He was awesome at turning a boring Monday into something fun" — and noted the deputy’s role in DARE and building relationships. The recognitions concluded with a group photograph and board members used their debrief time to thank volunteers and highlight community programs that benefited students.
