The Floyd County Board of Supervisors approved Resolution No. 05-26 authorizing the County Engineer to acquire necessary right-of-way for construction and maintenance on the county’s secondary road system. The resolution sets compensation for land acquisition at 3.55 times the 100% valuation listed in the county's 2024 Land Values document and uses County Assessor figures for land valuations.
The resolution also describes treatment of trees in residential areas—healthy trees will either be relocated or replaced with 1- or 2-inch nursery stock of similar wood type—and preserves landowners’ right to appeal valuation or acquisition. The motion carried by roll call: Ayes—Gloria A. Carr and Frank Rottinghaus (2-0).
