Jay Harrison thanked the legal and community partners who helped preserve and repurpose the school building. "We are also grateful to Butch Davies and his legal partners for saving the school in the mid 19 eighties for this significant adaptive reuse preservation endeavor," Harrison said, crediting that work with enabling today’s marker placement and continued use of the structure as Anne Wingfield Commons.
Event organizers and local officials said the preservation effort allowed the community to retain a visible link to its educational past while repurposing the building for contemporary use. Attendees were invited to read the marker and reflect on the combined roles of volunteers, legal advocates and museum staff in saving local landmarks.
