Residents press board for data and continued enforcement of County Road 39 pilot after fatal crash; town amends budget for pilot overtime

"The ordinance works well, but only when it's enforced," Fox said, urging more consistent enforcement during the summer season.
Remote commenters asked whether the County Road 39 pilot program remains town-funded and whether staff can provide the data or studies that informed lane closures, accident counts, or trip‑count thresholds. A resident who identified themselves as not the CAC chair requested the criteria used to close town roads; the board said it will devote a work session to review data and enforcement and noted the highway department has speed measurements and other information.
On the consent agenda the board approved Resolution 2026‑1146 to amend the 2026 adopted budget for the Highway Department to cover County Road 39 pilot and cone programs; the resolution passed on a voice vote.
