The Town Board of Southampton closed a public hearing on July 28 to consider accepting a deed of dedication for a North Sea parcel and issuing a development rights certificate.
A staff presenter explained that the parcel is 8,000 square feet and “the development rights certificate would be for 0.04 of a development,” noting the zoning denominator is 200,000 square feet and the calculation is parcel area divided by that base. The presenter said the lot lies in the town aquifer protection overlay, on the county special groundwater protection overlay, and on the town CPF priority acquisition list, making it eligible as a TDR sending parcel under town code. "If the property meets the criteria that's in the code...this property does qualify," the staff member said.
Board members asked no additional questions and there were no in-person or Zoom public speakers for this hearing; the board moved to close the hearing. A separate resolution accepting the deed and authorizing issuance of the development rights certificate was read later on the agenda (the board sponsored and approved a deed-acceptance resolution later in the meeting). The town clerk closed the hearing and the board proceeded to other agenda items.
