Roscommon County remains in flood recovery; local emergency declaration submitted to state

Emergency Manager Vanessa Varner told the Board the county "is still in recovery from the recent flooding," and that a local State of Emergency declared April 15 has been submitted to the state for possible state and federal assistance. Varner said the declaration is valid until May 13, 2026 unless extended and encouraged residents to perform self-assessments of flood damage and to test wells that were submerged.
Varner directed residents to contact 211 for assistance and urged them to complete the damage survey, which provides information used to determine whether the state may request a federal declaration and assistance.
