Roscommon County board sends 1.0-mill E911 renewal to Aug. 4 ballot

The Roscommon County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously April 22 to place a 1.0000-mill renewal for countywide E911 emergency telephone and central dispatch operations on the Aug. 4, 2026 primary election ballot. Commissioner Kim Morley moved the resolution and Commissioner Marc J. Milburn seconded; the roll call vote was Ayes: Morley, Wolfsen, Milburn.
The resolution states the levy would be for four years (2026–2029) and asks voters to approve restoring the previously authorized 1.0000 mill (reduced by rollbacks to 0.9689 mills). The resolution estimates it would raise "an estimated $1,884,933.65 in the first year the millage is levied." The board’s action places the question before county voters at the August primary and does not itself change tax rates until and unless the electorate approves the levy.
Board members did not record dissent during the roll call. The motion to adopt the resolution was recorded as Resolution No. 2026-04-02. The next step is placement of the question on the August 4 ballot and subsequent voter consideration.
