Supervisors approve multiple utility permits; discuss trees affecting Cylinder Creek drainage

Palo Alto County supervisors approved a slate of utility permits during the May 26 meeting. Motions carried to approve permits for IA Lakes Electric in Lost Island Township (Sections 16, 17 and 21); West Bend Municipal in West Bend and Fern Valley Townships (Sections 13 and 34); and Windstream permits in Emmetsburg and along N Huron and 360th Street.
The Board also discussed tree issues that may affect drainage. County Engineer Walter Davis-Oeth raised tree concerns in Section 19 of Nevada Township. EMA Director Kayla Hagen presented drone footage of Cylinder Creek in Section 4 of West Bend Township, and the Board discussed options for addressing trees that could impact drainage infrastructure. The Board took no immediate construction action at the meeting beyond discussion and follow-up coordination.
