Mayor highlights summer events, time capsule plans and downtown parking improvements

"Saturday, August 1, concert in the park... Gates open up at 5 is $20 per person," said Chair (S1), who cited local radio attention for the performing band. The Chair also explained the $10 fee for the slide event: "Why we had to charge $10 a person is because we had a lot of material to buy to have the 1st 1," and said fees might be reduced later.
On legacy and public input, the Chair proposed forming a committee and involving students to plan a moisture‑proof time capsule, noting the need for durable materials and a clear selection process. He urged interested volunteers to sign up to help draft the capsule contents and timeline.
On downtown improvements, the Chair said RDC plans include tearing out an old parking lot behind 18 South Main to create roughly 20 additional parking spaces, redesign sidewalks and present CAD drawings at a public input meeting to show options such as a pocket park and pop‑up stalls.
Council praised event volunteers and organizers; the meeting closed with a reminder that the next meeting is Aug. 25 and accounts payable will be signed.
