Kingsburg board approves superintendent recommendations, schedules budget presentation

The Kingsburg Board of Education on Feb. 16 approved a package of superintendent-recommended consent items covering personnel, grants, the district calendar and other routine business.
Superintendent (Speaker 9) opened the list, saying the administration "recommends positive action on the following items," which included internship placements, a coordinator replacement for an adolescent pregnancy-prevention initiative, preschool evening registration staffing, after-school program appointments, additional instructional time and several grant amendments and acceptances. The calendar was revised to reflect one additional emergency day used this year, leaving April 3 as a 0.5 day and April 2 also a 0.5 day.
Chair (Speaker 1) moved the package and Speaker 10 seconded. Roll-call voting followed; board members registered affirmative votes and one member stated, "I recused myself." The board publicly recorded the recusal and carried the approvals. The board also set an April 28 presentation for a more detailed review of the tentative 2026–27 budget.
The approvals covered both routine operational items and awards/grants for the district's Early Learning Center and high school. No ordinance or long-term contract with external parties was adopted at this meeting.
What happens next: the administration will present detailed budget documentation at the April 28 meeting (subject to county processing timelines), and the board will publish the full adopted minutes and consent lists as required by district policy.
