Council approved $30,235.63 in additional repairs to the town's Caterpillar D6 at the Feb. 26 meeting after Town Manager Suzanne Harvey said that both sides of the final drive needed replacement once disassembled. "Both sides need to be replaced so it is an additional $30,000, that is our D6. It's a critical piece of equipment. We also just paid it off, so we need to do the repair," Harvey told the council.
The motion to approve the repairs was moved by Johann Wallace and seconded by Christy Hirshberg and passed unanimously. The minutes record the exact dollar amount and the staff justification that the machine is critical for public works operations; procurement or warranty details were not included in the minutes.
