Residents urge action after crosswalk incident near Circle K

Lonnie Brock said the lights at the crosswalk are hard for drivers to see and urged the town to install a safer crossing. Tami Ackerson told the council her daughter was hit while using the crosswalk correctly and said, according to the meeting record, “Cars do not see the lights and stop.” Both comments came during the meeting’s public-comment period.
Mayor Johann R. Wallace later told council members the crosswalk has received media attention and that he has sought a meeting with the Arizona Department of Transportation. The council did not take formal action on the crosswalk at the meeting but discussed next steps and outreach to ADOT.
