U/T Coordinator David Spencer told commissioners the Land Use Planning Commission is considering rezoning property operated by Maynards of Maine in Rockwood. The county discussed that the parcel has historically been zoned residential despite commercial activity; Maynards is proposing an expansion that would be enabled by rezoning. The board reached consensus in favor of rezoning and passed a motion authorizing Administrator Tim Curtis to sign and submit a comment form to the LUPC by the June 8 deadline.
"The consensus was in favor of rezoning and Commissioner Skillings motioned to authorize Administrator Curtis to sign the comment form and submit to the LUPC, seconded by Commissioner Alsop. Motion carries 5-0," the record shows. The action formalizes the county's position to LUPC ahead of that commission's decision process. The comment form will be returned to LUPC by June 8 as required.
