Administrator updates on jail funding, TIF panel and grant deadlines; MCCA representative provides association update

Administrator Tim Curtis told the board he had been lobbying in Augusta for jail funding and will participate in a panel on Tax Increment Financing (TIF) Districts at the Maine Town and City Managers Association conference in August. He also reminded commissioners that Community Benefit Matching Grant applications are due May 8, with first review scheduled for May 20.
During the public-comment portion Penobscot County Commissioner Andre Cushing provided updates from the Maine County Commissioners Association, thanked Somerset for representation at County Days at the Legislature on April 10, summarized the passage of bills affecting county government, and announced the MCCA convention set for Sept. 22–25 at Sunday River in Bethel.
