County Administrator Tim Curtis reviewed proposed updates to the Somerset County Employee Handbook at the May 6 workshop and the commission formally approved the changes later in the meeting.
"The updates included clarifying the role of elected officials, references to the Maine Municipal Health Trust were removed as the County no longer utilizes MMEHT for health insurance coverage, language on declared holidays was updated... earned paid leave was updated to include new language from the State," Curtis said, summarizing the procedural changes. The Commission subsequently approved the handbook updates by a 5-0 vote under Resolution 26-67.
The adopted changes remove references to the county’s former health-trust arrangement and update leave language to reflect recent state changes; administrators said the edits were primarily procedural rather than substantive changes to benefits.
