Board sets April hearing to update VAD/EVAD ordinance after state law change

County Attorney Tony Triplett told the Board that a change in state law requires rezonings within Voluntary Agricultural Districts (VAD) and Enhanced VADs (EVAD) to be subject to a public hearing by the Agricultural Advisory Board — a step the County’s current ordinance did not explicitly require. The Board voted unanimously to set a public hearing on Tuesday, April 7, 2026, at 5:00 P.M. to amend the ordinance.
Triplett said both the Agricultural Advisory Board and the Planning Board reviewed and recommended the amendment before the Board’s action. Vice Chairman Evan Handy made the motion to set the hearing and Commissioner Casey Johnson seconded it; no objections were recorded.
