Board approves $115,500 audit contract for FY2025–2026

The Wilkes County Board of Commissioners voted unanimously on April 7 to contract Martin Starnes & Associates, CPA’s, P.A. to perform the county’s Fiscal Year 2025–2026 audit.
County Manager John Yates told the board: "The total amount for this contract is not to exceed $115,500 and the contract increased $13,510 due to the testing of two additional programs." Commissioner Casey Johnson moved to approve the contract; the motion was seconded and approved by the full board.
Yates said the contract is the standard audit agreement used by North Carolina governmental entities and cannot exceed the listed amount without the board's further approval.
