Hanover EDA approves support for revamped tourism grant application

Chairman Trey Hayden told members the existing Hanover Tourism Grant application had been cumbersome and produced only two applicants. He presented a revised application and asked the board for a motion to support the revamp. Ms. Carey Carlisle moved and Mr. Sam Zeidan seconded; the motion was approved with recorded Aye votes from Trey Hayden, Ed Kieper, Carey Carlisle, Wayne Waldrop and Sam Zeidan.
Hayden also said staff is doing preliminary work on a Tourism Zone and Incentive Plan that would move forward after the Route 1 Small Area Plan is approved, and that HCED is simultaneously working on industrial recruitment incentive programs. The EDA did not adopt a Tourism Zone at the meeting; the remarks described planning and staff work that will continue.
