Commission denies Lake Moxie ATV access and asks MDOT to lower speed limit

The Somerset County Commission approved the final report denying the Lake Moxie ATV Club’s application to allow ATV access to portions of Lake Moxie Road in The Forks (Resolution 26-28). Commissioner Scott Seekins moved the resolution and Commissioner Joel Stetkis seconded; the vote was 5-0.
The commission also authorized a request to the Maine Department of Transportation to reduce the speed limit on Lake Moxie Road (Resolution 26-29). That motion carried 4-1 after Commissioner John Alsop registered the lone dissent. Commissioners did not indicate further action beyond forwarding the request to MDOT.
