Watonwan County sets fairgrounds overnight hours, addresses leaking rink roof and trash cleanup

Commissioner Dillon Melheim told the Board the roof on the roller rink at the Watonwan County fairgrounds is leaking and asked the Highway Department to arrange repairs and to spray weeds. After discussion, County Engineer Michael McCarty said he was aware of the issue and is working to have the roof repaired.
Melheim recommended establishing operating hours for the fairgrounds and local parks. The Board approved a motion establishing a closure period from 10:30 PM to 5:30 AM when no events are scheduled and directed staff to verify applicable ordinances for local parks. The Board also determined that the Highway Department will clean up trash left near recycling dumpsters at the fairgrounds.
