The Watonwan County Board of Commissioners on July 7 adopted a formal Debt Management Policy after a presentation from George Eilertson of Northland Public Finance. The motion to approve the policy passed unanimously (recorded in SEG 008). Eilertson also reviewed the county’s finance plan and answered commissioners’ questions.
County leaders said the policy is intended to guide the county’s borrowing practices and support long-term fiscal responsibility. The presentation outlined the policy’s purpose and key provisions and highlighted priority areas in the finance plan; no changes to the policy were recorded during the meeting. The Board’s unanimous adoption of the policy formalizes the framework for future debt issuance and fiscal decision-making.
