County moves forward on transportation and water infrastructure projects, authorizes OPWC grant and bids

The Board approved several infrastructure actions on July 9. County Administrator Thomas J. Eigel was authorized to sign an Ohio Public Works Commission (OPWC) grant agreement for the White Oak Road Water Main Replacement (Phase II) Project in Pierce Township: OPWC grant amount $1,000,000 with a local match of $1,864,646.
The Board also approved advertising for bids on Project GO‑09‑25 (State Route 132 widening in Goshen Township), with a legal notice to run on July 17, 2025 and bids due July 31, 2025. Separately, the Board executed a cooperative purchase agreement with Guardian Fence and Construction d/b/a Geospecialties, LLC for repair of a retaining wall on Nine Mile Tobasco Road in Pierce Township in an amount not to exceed $121,742.50, with work to be completed by December 31, 2025.
County officials said the OPWC action aligns the project with the State Capital Improvements Program for FY2026 and the SR 132 notice sets the public bid timetable. The retaining wall contract is contingent upon release of the required purchase order.
