Clermont County commissioners formally oppose House Bill 335, warn of revenue losses

Commissioner David L. Painter moved to add the letter to the day’s agenda and explained the bill’s mechanics to the Board. Emily Akers, Director of the Office of Management and Budget, said taking away inside millage “will decrease the revenue for the County General and Capital Funds, all school districts, and the Clermont County Park District.” The motion to acknowledge the letter carried; Commissioners Batchler and Painter voted yes and Commissioner Corcoran abstained on the recorded roll call.
The Board’s action was an acknowledgement and not a legislative change; the record shows the Board directed no further County-level statute changes at the meeting. The acknowledged letter was addressed to Senator Terry Johnson and Representatives Jean Schmidt and Adam Bird and asked lawmakers to consider the comprehensive proposals developed by the county associations rather than the bill in its current form.
