County reviews several facilities projects: Old City Hall repair, storage building, kennels and surplus buildings

County staff briefed the commission on a cluster of facility projects during the Sept. 22 work session, requesting authority to move ahead with repairs and renovations.
The Old City Hall Welcome Center was advertised as a single project and county staff received one bid of approximately $96,000 to replace roof flashing/fascia, renovate a room, repair a bathroom and update flooring. County Manager Thomas Weaver said the right side had previously received about $150,000 in investment and the county needs to repair the left side to prevent further deterioration. Staff recommended adding the item to the regular meeting agenda for a vote.
Separately, staff described a storage building project at 215 McNaughton St. Rather than a single contractor, the county solicited slab, building, insulation and electrical quotes and plans to request authority "to spend up to" an amount to complete the project (final quotes to be presented). The commission also discussed adding five outdoor runs at the dog pound and declaring two county buildings (behind public works on King St. and the old Fire Station on Fire Tower Rd.) surplus and available for demolition while preserving slabs for potential future use.
