County investigates repeated outages at Fire Tower Road tank; electrical issues suspected

County Manager Thomas Weaver updated the board that the Fire Tower Road water tank had gone out again and the county brought in Hammock Wells, which responded within an hour. Weaver said the county "feel[s] like it is an electrical issue" affecting the pump controls and that staff are evaluating surge suppression systems, grounding and possibly an HVAC enclosure for electronic components.
Weaver said the county does not believe lightning is the sole cause of repeated failures and that the county will inspect the ground field for settling; if electrical fixes do not solve the problem, the county will consider hiring an electrical contractor for a more comprehensive repair or replacement. The water department is also addressing a separate leak on Highway 137 and has made several service line repairs and staff hires.
