The commission on Sept. 2 authorized the Riverbend fishing dock project to be put out to bid. The item was discussed again in the Sept. 22 work session, where county staff reported that one bidder, Wahoo Docks of LaGrange, submitted a price of $90,582.11 for an 80‑foot by 10‑foot dock.
County Manager Thomas Weaver said the county planned to award pending required permits from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers and that only a few dock contractors work under Corps permitting rules. The motion to advertise and solicit bids was made by Commissioner Timothy Biddle and seconded by Commissioner Gerald Douglas; the vote was unanimous.
The commission described the dock as a fixed pier; staff said the bid and permitting status would determine final award and timeline.
