The commission moved into executive session at 6:41 p.m. on Aug. 5, 2025, to discuss subjects the chairman later described as personnel and land matters covered by open‑meetings exemptions. The board reconvened at 7:12 p.m.; Chairman Charles Coffey stated the closed-session topics were within the legal exceptions and that no votes were taken in the session.
Following reconvening, commissioners voted unanimously to amend the agenda to allow the county manager to make a personnel change discussed in executive session and then voted unanimously to permit the county manager to implement the discussed change.
At the Aug. 25 work session, the board again convened an executive session at 10:40 a.m. to discuss personnel and emergency management issues and reconvened at 11:06 a.m. Chairman Coffey said the subjects discussed were within the legal exceptions to the open meetings law.
Next steps: the commission recorded affidavits about the executive sessions in the meeting packet and instructed the manager to proceed with the authorized personnel actions consistent with county policy.
