Council adopted two festival‑related ordinances on May 11 to allow the Chagrin Valley Jaycees to host Blossom Time activities and to permit the consumption of beer and wine at Riverside Park during the 2026 festival.
Council President Angie DeBernardo moved to suspend the rules and adopt Ordinance No. 2026‑33, authorizing the Mayor to enter into an MOU with the Chagrin Valley Jaycees for the Blossom Time special event. The Council then suspended the rules and adopted Ordinance No. 2026‑34, granting a one‑time waiver of enforcement of Codified Ordinance section 951.05 to permit beer and wine at Riverside Park during the 2026 Blossom Time Festival. Both measures passed by unanimous roll call vote.
Separately, Council deferred approval of the Lighting of the Greens event until police confirm a satisfactory security plan because of the event's growth in scale. Jamieson said staff will coordinate event logistics and that daily construction oversight is ongoing ahead of festival activities.
