Board hears about $370,000 ambulance invoice; discusses remounting older chassis

Stephen A. Boyer, County Administrator, told the board that the county had received an invoice for $370,000 for a new ambulance that was ordered about 13 months ago and asked the board for guidance on next steps.
"The county received an invoice for $370,000 for a new ambulance that was ordered 13 months ago and need thoughts from the Board," Boyer said. Board members suggested consulting the Emergency Services Commission about the possibility of remounting an existing chassis to lower costs. Boyer reported there is no purchase agreement regarding the ambulance "so we are not on the hook for it," and staff member Nikkie C. Edwards reviewed the county purchasing policy for the group.
No procurement decision was made at the meeting; supervisors asked staff to follow up with the Emergency Services Commission and to bring additional options and cost information to a future meeting.
