Residents ask Grayson supervisors for moratorium, zoning updates ahead of proposed AI data center

"Citizens deserve input," said Scott Wagoner, a resident of Independence, who asked the board to be "pro-active, not reactive," including considering a moratorium and updates to local zoning to address likely impacts on water and utilities. Doug Cox, also of Independence, recommended safeguards specific to a proposed AI data center and handed the board a written packet he provided to staff. Bepe Kafka spoke in favor of local economic development but did not propose a specific board action on the record.
Board members did not take formal action on the requests during the meeting. The comments were entered into the public record and the handout provided by Doug Cox is part of the meeting materials for board consideration.
