The Rockport School Committee voted to approve an updated Appendix A to the RTA contract that restructures activity and athletics stipends into tiered levels and clarifies role expectations.
Jody Goodhue, who led the appendix review, told the committee the prior stipend list lacked structure and role definitions. The revised document groups positions into four tiers (tier 4 highest responsibility) and moves most funding onto the school budget rather than program receipts. Goodhue said 43 stipends remain stable, 63 received increases (some minimal), and five roles had reduced funding. "The cost is $29,051 in added cost to the budget if we post and fill every single one of these positions," she said.
Goodhue also described adjustments to curriculum coordinator pay (a modest increase) and said principals can create and fund new clubs within the tier structure if funding is available. She reported the RTA membership ratified the appendix with 90% in favor. After questions from committee members about how athletic tiers were determined and how the appendix ties into regular step and level increases, the committee moved and approved the updated Appendix A by voice vote.
The transcript records the committee's approval but does not include a roll-call vote tally. The appendix is to be MOA'd into the current contract for the next two years as presented.
