Board approves FY2027 school budget; county to contribute $8.82 million

The Grayson County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved the county’s FY2027 school budget on May 28. Supervisor Mary E. Dickenson Tomlinson moved to approve the school budget of $31,389,746.19 and a County contribution of $8,817,981.25, which includes the county RLE and debt service; Supervisor C.S. "Sandy" Cunningham seconded and the motion carried 5-0.
County staff told the Board state aid figures had not yet been provided and that the local composite index changed, increasing the county’s share for debt service and RLE. Stephen A. Boyer explained that the county approves and sends the funds to the school, which then pays the debt service. The Board took final action to adopt the budget and authorize the county contribution as presented.
