Rockport outlines Family Partnerships series with Bloom; administrators plan to reuse recordings

School leaders told the committee that Rockport partnered with Bloom (Gloucester) to host a three-part Family Partnerships series for families and caregivers. The first event, 'Beyond the Screen' with speaker Katie Greer, was in-person in November; two subsequent sessions (vaping/drugs/alcohol in January and 'Kids Who Thrive') were held via Zoom so the district could recruit national speakers and obtain polished recordings for reuse. "The beauty of that is that even though the turnout was not as high in those Zoom sessions, they have given us polished recordings that we can then redistribute and reuse," an administrator said.
Administrators said they plan to repackage snippets for parent nights and staff training, pilot a focus group to learn what families want, and consider mixing formats (in-person, Zoom and hybrid) next year. Committee members recommended adding direct links and highlights to the district newsletter and exploring off-site venues like the library and farmer's market to broaden reach.
