In other business May 14 the Grayson County Board of Supervisors approved local appointments, set next steps for a bridge ceremony and received administrative reports.
The Board appointed Rebecca Martel as the MRCS primary representative and Jessica Whitaker as the MRCS alternate to the Community Policy & Management Team for four‑year terms; motions carried 5–0. Action on an Economic Development Authority seat for Timmy Dixon was tabled. The Board reappointed Darin Young to the Virginia‑Carolina Water Authority for a three‑year term by motion of Supervisor Tomlinson and second by Supervisor Cunningham; the vote carried 5–0.
County Administrator Stephen A. Boyer reported that Flatridge Community Center joined the Crooked Road program, the county’s burning ban was lifted but residents were asked to avoid burning because DEQ issued a drought warning, large‑item pickup routes will begin May 18 for specific areas, and a Data Center Information Event is scheduled May 27 in Wytheville. Staff will propose dates for the Jeremy Hall bridge ceremony after consulting Mrs. Hall.
