Huntsville Town Council approved multiple public‑works purchases June 24 to address road deterioration and winter maintenance.
Councilmember Bruce Ahlstrom recommended awarding the overlay and repair work for 6900 E and 7300 E to LaRose Paving for $40,990, despite a lower bid from another contractor, citing LaRoses experience and quality. "Although the cheapest bid was from Seal Pro he suggested they accept the bid of LaRose pavement. They have much more experience and their work is high quality," Ahlstrom said. The council voted 4‑0 to accept the LaRose bid.
Separately, council approved $10,000 to pay Bandit Paving for seal coat work on three blocks after Ahlstrom said Bandit had previously donated roadwork near Town Hall. The motion to accept the seal coat recommendation passed 4‑0.
For equipment, the council approved purchasing a 12-foot snow pusher for $5,739 from Holland Equipment Co. Town Clerk Beckki Endicott summarized department input and Ahlstrom made the motion to purchase, which the council approved 4‑0.
Councilmembers said the public‑works expenditures are part of a broader effort to preserve road surfaces and reduce long-term maintenance costs; they asked staff to coordinate scheduling and traffic-control plans with residents before work begins.
